Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy International

An international affiliation of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) training schools offering the highest standards of training, support, practice and ethics. Member schools offer holistically oriented trainings that honour the roots of this practice as developed by pioneering teachers such as Dr. William Sutherland, Dr. Rollin Becker, Franklyn Sills, Dr. James Jealous and others, as well as integrating developments from the fields of trauma, neuroscience, fascia research, embryology, energy medicine and integrative mind-body practices. The interconnections between body, mind and spirit are deeply acknowledged.

Each training comprises a minimum of 700 hours, with at least 320 hours of classroom attendance and 150 hours of home practice sessions, plus home study and supervision. The BCTI has a register of practitioners with graduates from member schools who have successfully completed trainings that meet these standards.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is based on an understanding of the natural forces that organize our form and function. This approach was originally developed by Dr. William Sutherland D.O., who discovered that there are a series of subtle rhythms expressed in the body that bring order and integration to both body and mind. The free and balanced expression of these rhythms is essential for our health and wellbeing. BCST works with the principle that within each of us there is an unerring intelligence that is constantly seeking health and optimal balance; something that starts during our embryological development and continues throughout life. The role of the practitioner is to support this natural tendency, so that treatment can be effectively applied in a non-invasive way according to the needs of each client.

Member schools offer their graduates a BCST (Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy) Diploma which is a lifetime qualification, such as a university degree. BCST status does not need annual renewal or any ongoing fees, as is the case with qualifications awarded by most practitioner membership organisations. Member schools are also eligible to award their graduates an Advanced Diploma in Biodynamics (ADB) after the completion of further advanced studies.

BCTI is a not-for-profit affiliation that supports training schools and provides information and resources to the public. It is run on a cooperative basis in a decentralised model, and each member school is responsible for operating its own organisation under commonly agreed principles. A Council of Schools is formed that includes a representative from each member school, and any policy decisions or updates are inclusively decided by this Council. Each school has its own national registration and complaints procedure, and must operate under any local legal requirements. BCTI does not deal with complaints about schools or graduates and any such issues need to be referred to the schools or their regulatory bodies.
